Award-winning artist, Julie Bernal grew up in Bristol, Connecticut where she loved the seasons of New England. As a teenager Bernal moved to Knoxville, TN where she studied fine art at Farragut High School. She continued her education with a degree in graphic arts from Pellissippi State Community College. Bernal is a graphic and web designer with over seven years of experience in the design field. She spends much of her free time focusing on creating fine art. Bernal resides in East Knoxville with her husband, Julian.

Bernal was the winner of the People’s Choice Award for the Arts & Culture Alliance’s juried 2009 Top 40 Exhibition for her watercolor painting, Canoes – Still Water. August 2009, Bernal was featured in skirt! Magazine and the Farragut Press. Her art has been exhibited at the McGhee Tyson Airport, Emporium Center, Tomato Head, Laurel Mountain Eatery, Urbhana and Cities Cupcake Boutique.

Bernal finds inspiration from her past travels to Europe, South America, the Adirondacks of New York and Charleston, South Carolina. She enjoys culture, interior design, camping, nature and listening to her husband compose music.
